The paper explores the possibility of using Taiwanese interpretation on the basis of language use, language policy, language planning, and current Taiwanese interpretation market. It is argued that language use is intricately connected with political development and Taiwanese has become a signifier for the independence of Strait, and among different ethnic groups on the island, the ruling DPP is not likely to radically change the language policy to list Taiwanese as an official language. As a result, Taiwanese interpretation market is not expected to expand in the near future even though Taiwanese has gained popularity.
