本文之研究取自TIMSS 2003年台灣、美國及日本的資料探討學生家庭作業與數學成就之間關係,也就是討論三個國家在數學成就、課堂檢討數學作業頻率、課堂就寫作業頻率、學生花在家庭作業時間、學生完成數學作業時間的差異。它也探討三個國家在五個數學組之學生家庭作業對數學成就影響。研究結果如下:首先,台灣在學生數學成就、完成數學時間比美國及日本還高,但是在課堂中寫數學作業則比日本與美國少。其次,台灣、美國及日本的國二不同組別的學生花在寫家庭作業時間與完成數學作業時間數沒有顯著影響數學成就。這代表這三個國家的資料顯示家庭作業並不一定可以提高學生數學成就。針對本文之研究結果,作者提出未來研究建議。
