The purpose of study was to investigate college student the relation between sex-role and self-esteem. The subjects were selected from the junior of the Department of Elementary Education in National Taichung Teaching's College. There were 50 boys and 58 girls. The measures used in this study included: Ben-Je Lin revised "Sex-role Inventory" and Si-Re Yung revised "Self-Esteem Inventory". First, the data was analyzed by x2 test to examinate the differences between sexes and groups among the sex-role patterns. Second, the data was analyzed by two-factor ANOVA to examinate the differences between sex and sex-role of self-esteem score. The main fingings as follows: 1.In the comparison between sexes, there are significantly differences among the sex-role patterns. The boys tend to masculinization, the girls tend to effemination. 2.In the comparison between groups, there are no differences among the sex-role patterns. 3.In the comparison between sexes, there are significantly differences of the self-esteem. The girls' score higer than boys. 4.In the comparison between sex-role patterns, there are significantly differences of the self-esteem. The bisexuality's score are highest, the second is masculinization. 5.There is no interaction between sex and sex-role of the self-esteem. Finally, the researcher propose the meaning of this study and the suggestions for further studies.
