　　　　　本文的焦點擺在一個較未受注意但是已經逐漸成型的論述形構，以下統稱之為「 文明主義」 (civilizationalism)。它的操作基點在於企圖徵召「文明認同」，收編既存認 同政治的因子，建構具有現實政治意義的「文明主體」與「別人」相對抗。本文要問的問題 是：不同種文明主義立場形成的歷史條件是什麼﹖它們的論述效果何在﹖分析以杭廷頓 (Samuel P. Huntington) 及南地 (Ashis Nandy) 的重要著作為對象，來展現兩種文明主義 不同的立場及其企圖接合的場域。主要目的在初步地指出 " 文明主義 " 的危險性，更為深 入的分析有待有識者共同努力，甚至必須經過比較研究才能進一步的定論。
　　　　　This Essay analyses an emerging discursive articulation: civilizationalism. Taking Samuel Huntington's and Ashis Nandy's discourses as object of analysis, this essay attempts to pinpoint the danger of different civilizationalist positions, their conditions of existence and discursive effects.
