The aim of the study is to examine the literature of meta-analysis concerning whether interpersonal intelligence varies with the gender, verify the possible causes between them, summary the debate of different perspective and analyze the influential factors of interpersonal intelligence development. In addition, by detail-to-detail testing the background characteristic of the literatures, including the education stage, published year, published language, published category and culture factor, the study analyzes the interference variables on the appearance of interpersonal intelligence.
Using the meta-analysis, compiled from 2000 to 2016 published academic journals, through the inclusion, exclusion and search of the research guidelines. The researchers will propose the research framework and empirical analysis. By Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software, extract the main effect size of the literatures and based on the variation of the sample. The analysis was conducted with the fixed-effect model or the random-effect model. The publication bias of the literatures were checked, then analyze the overall average effect of Hedges's g.
In addition, the overall average effect size is 0.417, which is a moderate positive effect size. However, female interpersonal intelligence performance is higher than that of men, showing gender difference does have different interpersonal intelligence performance. Besides, the various moderator variables were tested to have varying degrees of influence on the performance of interpersonal intelligence.
The results found the traditional gender stereotype of labor about males are breadwinner while females are homemaker has been challenged gradually. In the development process of interpersonal intelligence, females have gradually come out of the family, gaining more time to devote themselves to interpersonal contact and interpersonal communication, which indirectly enhance the interact skills and opportunities with others and help develop interpersonal intelligence. It is suggested that for the development of interpersonal intelligence education, all relevant units should invest more resources and attention, and encourage the participation of practical education and research workers order to enhance the future development of interpersonal intelligence.
