題名:清遺民的心態及處境:以劉聲木《萇楚齋隨筆》為例

     本文企圖從過去研究鉅型知識分子和政治復辟活動之外,分析清遺民的心態和處境。以劉聲木的《萇楚齊隨筆》為例,我的討論主要有三部分。第一,談到劉聲木的「思想資源」,藉以瞭解清遺民的心態。其次,從劉聲木對風俗嬗變的看法,觀察他是如何對待綱常觀念與社會秩序間關係,並作詮釋。最後的部分以清遺民編纂傳記、衣著及出處等角度,探索其意義。   《萇楚齋隨筆》在以往多被視為文獻學著作,未曾注意作者想要表達的意涵和對時代脈動。事實上,書中所討論的禮教、新式教育、婦女地位乃至孝道看法等,均係清季民初潮流下的公共輿論。劉聲木各式各樣的論點和態度,也正說明清遺民在民國初年「政治文化」當中的處境和反應。
This article attempts to analyze mentalities and appearances of Qing loyalists in Republican China except for macro-intellectuals and their political restoration. Here I take a case of Liu Sheng-mu (劉聲木, 1878-1959) and his Chang Chu Zhai essays (萇楚齋隨筆), the item for my discussion mainly divided into three parts. The first part I investigate “intellectual source” of Liu Sheng-mu and try to understand mentalities of Qing loyalists. The second part discusses some features of the Liu’s concept of “fengsu” (風俗,social customs and habits), and observes how to treat and explain social orders or human relationships. Finally, the third part of this article explores the symbolic meanings of Qing loyalists in terms of their compiled biographies, clothes and appearances. In the past, Chang Chu Zhai essays was always viewed as a resource of philology. People seldom look for the meanings in essays which the author would express and debate. In reality, of these themes in essays such as lijao (禮教,feudal ethics and rites), new education, position of women, even views of shaodao (孝道,filial piety) and so on, are public opinions discussed in late Qing and early Republican China. That is to say, all kinds of Liu’s opinions and affairs also prove the appearances and responses of Qing loyalists in “political culture” of early Republican China.
