This study clarifies the history of the transplantation of Dong-ding Wu-long Tea in Logu. First, the study distinguishes Shui-sa-lian Tea, which has been cultivated from the Kang-Xi period in Taiwan, from Dong-ding Wu-long Tea: Shui-sa-lian Tea belongs to the indigenous tea species of Taiwan, while Dong-ding Wu-long Tea is an alien species been transplanted from Fujian. Second, this study explores the time of transplantation and the identity of the transplanter: In the early Guang-Xu period, the locals in Dong-ding village, instead of Sir Fong-Chi Lin, transplanted the species from northern Taiwan. Last, the study illustrates that the legend of the transplantation, which attributes it to Sir Fong-Chi Lin, is a myth created by the poet, Da-Xiu Chang, to adorn Dong-ding Wu-long Tea.
