Purpose: This study was to compare Taiwan's top level and international elite gymnasts participating rings event. To understand where our gymnasts need to active overcome in training. Methods: The subjects were 32 gymnasts who qualified for men's apparatus final of 2010 World Championship, 2010 Asia Game, 2011 University Game and 2011 National Game for the rings competition. The dependent samples t-test was used to examine the scare values of qualification and final, and each element group in the routine was tested through χ^2 test of homogeneity of proportions, and the One-way ANONA was used to examine the effective score, group score, deduction score, final score and element groups of values. If significant difference existed, we then used LSD methods for the post-hoc test. Significant level was set at α=.05. Results: The Taiwan gymnasts' qualification and final score values showed significant difference. In terms of group score, deduction score and final score, the 2010 world competition and 2011 University Game group's performance were all significantly better than Taiwan gymnasts. The element group percentages showed no significant difference. In this study we found that the element group performed the most, as well as those that gather the most scores, belonged largely to the III and IV group. Conclusion: Taiwanese gymnasts should focus on technical stability and preciseness. Moreover, should practice higher difficulty skills, and dismounts must achieve grades up to D value. In routine performances, Taiwan and international groups showed resemblance, and strength is still the main structure of the rings event.
