波士頓儒家在方法論、形上學、踐履論三個方面提出了與其它儒學不同的看法。在方法論上，南樂上採取自然主義的進路，深受懷海德的影響。在形上學方面，認為陰陽感應是中國古典哲學中最主要的問題，在踐履論方面，較為強調禮的重要性，認為透過禮，才是踐履儒學的較好方法。

　　　　　Bostonian Confucians propose their own unique ideas in terms of methodology, metaphysics and activism. With methodology, Nan Le-shan is deeply influenced by Whitehead and takes the naturalistic approach. In terms of metaphysics, he believes that the interaction between yin and yang is the most important issue in classical Chinese philosophy. Regarding activism, he stresses the importance of Li, which he believes is a better way to activate Confucianism.
