Even though the animation industry in Taiwan is excellent in graphing technique and quality, it still faces the strong competitors in Japan, India, Europe, and American. Its recent challenge is how to put a strong hold on the domestic market. Then, it may compete in the foreign market. This research uses literature review, open questionnaire, and personal interview to find out the key factors which can make Taiwanese animation movies to be more attractive to the audience in Taiwan. A hierarchical structure, including five dimensions and seventeen key factors under these dimensions, is developed. Then, an AHP approach is employed to investigate and calculate the global weights of the dimensions and key factors. Comparisons of the ranks of the dimensions and key factors between consumers and industry experts are also made. Results show that consumers give the most weight to the dimension "story telling", while industry experts give the most weight to the dimension "frame appearance". Both consumers and industry experts consider the factors "innovative screenplay", "suitable layout" and "unique individual characteristics" as important factors, but they have very different opinions on the factors "diversity of marketing and promotion", "topicality of related goods" and "separation from Chinese tradition". Finally, some useful suggestions from the results of the comparisons are proposed to help Taiwanese animation industry to get out from the current predicament.
