本研究主要是透過「在地社區領袖」參與行動的歷程分析，嘗試建立鄉土襲產保育約基本概念架構。首先，提出一個「襲產價值序列」概念，確立在地社區人文與生態特色，包括精神的、長程的與隱藏的價值，做為襲產保育研究的分析工具。進而，提出鄉土襲產保育的基本概念架構草案。其次，回顧與評述「麻豆」與「臺北」兩個個案中，襲產保育「在地行動」的參與歷程，嘗試解釋如何建立地方感、環境價值觀與空間概念。最後，本研究探討在地社區領袖如何在參與歷程中，形成「在地化」與「鄉土化」的概念。不僅形塑在地社區的特質，同時，也建構生活環境的整體性與地域性。同樣的，一個抽象與無意義的「空間」，也因而轉變成有意義的「地方」、「場所」或「好所在」。透過上述的參與歷程分析得知，在鄉土襲產保育的歷程中，一方面是透過「文化認同」與「生活型態」等無形襲產，構成的地方特質的整體意義與精神基礎;另一方面是透過「襲產保育」與「獨特風貌」等有形襲產，完成地方特質的個別載體與物質基礎。這兩者共同形塑出一個地方的特質。

This study is to build up a conceptual framework of vernacular region heritage conservation through an analysis on the local action processes of local community leaders' involvement in two communities. At first, I propose Heritage Value Spectrum (H.V.S.) which serves as an analysis tool. Then, I define the whole value of local cultural and ecological features, including spiritual, long-term and hidden benefits, etc. More over, I try to build up a draft conceptual framework of vernacular region heritage conservation. Second, I review some programs about local heritage conservation to analyze local action processes. We expect to answer the questions on how it works to make up the sense of space, the environmental value and the concept of space. Finally, I would like to study how local community leaders make this conceptual framework localized' and 'vernacular'. These processes not only construct the characteristics of local community, but also build up the totality and locality of a living setting. The transformation of an abstract and non-meaningful space to a meaningful place is similar to the processes mentioned as above. This process analysis not only achieves a solid base for local people's needs in terms of understanding the nature of a sustainable society, but also brings them together to step toward a sustainable community. We gain a conclusion that the formation of place characteristics is formed on both sides: one side is the total, spiritual base of the in-tangible heritage including both cultural identity and lifestyle, the others is the individual, material foundations of the tangible heritage including heritage conservation and unique appearances.
