題名:個人社會網絡和專家學者知識對大學教育程度幼兒母親教養信念的影響

     當越來越多的西方學者發現,專家學者知識與個人社會網絡對於中上階層父母教養的形塑影響甚深時,這兩個因素卻甚少被國內學者探究和關注。本研究透過深度訪談,探討十五位受過大學教育程度之幼兒母親在教養過程中運用專家學者知識及個人社會網絡的情形,以及這兩個教養資源對她們的影響。本研究結果發現,我國中上社經婦女運用社會網絡與專家學者知識的情形,以及這兩個資源對當事者教養的影響和中方社會同一族群者有許多異曲同工之處。大部分受訪者在教養過程中都主動積極吸取專家學者知識和建構個人社會網絡;換言之,這兩個因素在其教養中都扮演著重要的角色。大部分受訪者的社會網絡以非血親之女性、與當事者年齡相彷者居多。這現象透露,我國現代社會的婦女在社會網絡的建構上,在質的方面有了改變;從血親走向以非血親為主。受訪者對社會網絡的功能多持正向的看法,認為社會網絡之間的互動能提供自己在教養上實際的幫助和情感上的支持與壓力的抒解。反之,受訪者對於專家學者知識的看法則相當複雜;正負評價皆有之。以正向來說,她們認為專家學者知識幫助她們更了解兒童的發展與需求、為人父母的角色、溝通的重要性、及建立較親密的親子關係。受訪者對專家學者知識負面的評價主要與管教有關,她們認為有些專家學者知識過於理論與理想化,很難應用在實際的教養上。有些人因著理想與現實的落差而產生挫折與焦慮,甚而懷疑自己的教養能力。有些人則質疑專家學者對實際教養的困難與挑戰知多少?在比較兩個教養資源的功能時,多數的受訪者認為雙向交流的個人社會網絡對她們的幫助較大。如何使專家學者知識對父母教養上不預期的負向影響減到最低點,將正向影響發揮至最高點?本研究結果提供親職教育工作者一些思考的空間。
     While more and more western researchers demonstrated that social networks and expert knowledge to be influential in shaping middle-class parents' child-rearing ideas, these two factors were rarely explored in Taiwan. Through in-depth interviews, this qualitative study explored the influence of these two rare examined sources of parenting information on college-educated mothers. The results of this study showed that participants all actively search for expert knowledge and construct their social networks. In other words, these two factors play important roles in shaping participants parenting ideas. The phenomenon share many similarities as middle-class parents in western societies. The social networks of participants are dominated by non-kin members who are females and have ages similar to their own. These findings reveal that Taiwanese mothers of this generation have started to develop social networks that differ from those of previous generations. In that, the dominant social networks have changed from kinship to non-kin. All participants regard the function of social networks to be largely positive, which provide them with practical ideas and serve as an outlet for the release of emotion and stress due to parenting problems. The comments on the usefulness of expert knowledge are mixed. There are pros and cons. Positively speaking, they consider that expert knowledge help them understand children better, facilitate their roles as parents, understand the importance of communication and develop intimate parent-child relationships. In contrast, participants' feeling toward expert knowledge are rather complicated. The major criticism of expert knowledge is associated with experts' advice on discipline. They consider that some advice of experts is too theoretical and ideal to implement in real child-rearing situation. Some participants experience frustration and anxiety when they experience gaps between experts' ideals and their own reality. Some come to question themselves as incompetent. Some question how much do experts understand the complexity and challenge parents encounter face in parenting. In comparing the functions of these two sources of parenting, the majority of the participants consider social networks that are interactive in nature to be more helpful. To minimize the unintended negative influences and maximize the positive function of expert knowledge, the findings of this study provide some insights to parenting educators.
