台灣社會內部之所以能互動與溝通，乃是因為有一個共同的意義系統。這個意義系統並不容易被我們所了解，因為政治符號的過度競爭一方面讓我們遺忘這個意義系統，一方面也掩蔽了這個意義系統。而這中間最大的變項就是兩岸關係，幾乎所有政治符號的競爭都與兩岸關係有所連結。本文的目的就是在這個前提之下，試圖回歸到這個意義系統，它是台灣文化的本真描述，並且同時是一種文化的實踐。 台灣如果有危機的話，那麼不只是對立與疏離上的存在危機，同時包含對正在進行的日常生活與其連續性的遺忘。不論我們在政治或文化上如何地論述，台灣社會整體總是已經在這裡，並且一直在這裡，以後不論兩岸關係如何地變化，它還是在這裡。當我們把目光轉移到這裡時，台灣的主體性恰好也在這裡。這個目光的轉移需要現象學的工作，特別是對於生活世界的觀察上。 台灣生活世界的結構基本上也表現出全球在地化的特性，台灣除了不是一個封閉的社會空間之外，社會本身也不斷在進行具體的重組。本土化乃是社會本身的自然歷程，也許我們可以不使用這名詞，但是它所指涉的歷程時時刻刻在發生當中。「去中國化」不是生活世界中的本真陳述，它可以是生活世界中的一個變項，但卻是一個高度掩蔽存有的藍圖。在全球社會中，不曾存在此類的藍圖或者後設敘述，也沒有人或群體可以一體地推動它。「去中國化」與台灣的全球在地化也許有張力存在，但不曾是存在或存有上的危機，因為它是一個不是問題的問題。 台灣社會與文化認同有它的新基礎，它並不是已經相當分波的族群或語言，當然更不是早已經被揚棄一世紀之久的政治理念，而是對民主的參與機制以及適切的權利系統之認可與引以為榮。這也是我們所說的公民身分認同的意涵，它是符合全球性的一種認同形式。
There is common value system in Taiwan's society. Communication and interaction is, thus, possible. This common value system is difficult to comprehend since political symbolism has misplaced its meaning. Moreover, cross-straits relations are a crucial factor behind this tendency. Basically, political symbolism is bound to be related to the issue of cross-straits relations. This paper attempts to return to this common value system, which is one of Taiwan's genuine characteristics and cultural practices. If Taiwan were in a crisis, it would not only be one caused by antagonism but also by the continuing daily thoughtlessness. Regardless of one's political and cultural standpoint, Taiwan's society is already there and has always been there. Whatever changes in cross-straits relations there might be, this situation will not change. Here the issue of Taiwanese identity emerges-a phenomenon that requires the help of phenomenology. Taiwan's life world is global with local features. Taiwan society is not only open but continually adapting. Localization is a natural historical development.
