在2005年，高雄市政府將親屬寄養正式納入兒童少年保護服務輸送系統中，其主要目的是使危機、弱勢家庭之兒童少年儘可能留在熟悉的生活環境，一方面可以避免因轉換生活環境造成的適應問題，另一方面有利於家庭重整。從 2005年至 2008年6月，約有 15位親屬參與親屬寄養服務。為能瞭解親屬正式參與兒童少年的照顧經驗，做為修正相關措施之參考，本文共訪問 4位親屬寄養主要照顧者，主要焦點是在他們的照顧動機、面臨的困難與需求、對政策的看法。 研究結果發現， 4位受訪者願意參與親屬照顧服務之理由，主要是基於對兒童少年的憐愛、與兒童少年之間的親屬關係或是血脈血緣之故。參與親屬寄養照顧服務所面臨的困難相當多元，包括照顧資源、兒童少年行為教養、與兒童少年原生家庭互動、親屬照顧者與其家人生活調適等方面。但是，受訪者對於親屬寄養照顧本質給予高度的肯定，因為能夠使孩子與原生家庭保持連結、不用經驗分離的創傷。對親屬寄養照顧服務制度實施的建議，則包括了經費補助的金額與標準之調整、提供促進兒童少年與原生家庭父母親親子關係之服務。
In 2005, the Kaohsiung City Government officially integrated the relative foster service into the children-adolescent protection service delivery system to provide children and adolescents from high-risk or underprivileged families the opportunity to stay in the environments with which they are familiar. In doing so, children and adolescents do not need to adjust themselves to new environments. The relative foster service substantially facilitates family reform. From 2005 June to 2008 June, 15 persons participated in this service. To examine the care experience of relative foster service participants for future service referral, 4 participants were interviewed. The interviews were designed to determine the motivations, difficulties, needs and viewpoints of the participants toward the relative foster service. The findings of this study are as follows. According to the interviews, the participants were willing to foster the children and adolescents because of love. The other reason was their bounded relationship between relatives who provide foster care to the children. The difficulties the participants encountered were quite various, including lack of support for their care, behavior teaching, the interaction of the children and adolescents with the original families, and the life adjustments of the care givers and their family. However, all of the care givers thought highly of the relative foster service because it allows children and adolescents to keep in touch with their original families and avoid experiencing the trauma of detachment. The care givers proposed to adjust the amount of the subsidy and the qualifications for applying for it, and to provide some assistance to improve the relationship between children/adolescents and their parents.
