The study aimed to use art materials to promote non-academic self-concept in a university student growth group. Two main purposes were to assist group members to express their opinions about social, emotional, and physical issues as well as to explore the functions of art materials. In order to offer the experience of creativity, variety of art materials which included crayon, watercolor, sewing, salt, mask, clays and cards were used. The results showed that group members improved the relationship with their family and friends, breakthrough the limitation of self-competence, and enhanced their emotion regulation. Group members also found the way to relieve their stress by using art materials. This study finally presented some ideas which give suggestions for the following intervention in university student growth group.
