　　　　　本文試圖由建築史學界討論都市史的知識脈絡，來重新思考所謂的〞中國建築史〞 究應如何看待都市史研究﹖建築史如何能在理論層次接合上都市史之發問角度﹖以及在面對 現實政經變局的要求時，都史能提供何種知識貢獻﹖提供何種設計與規劃實踐貢獻﹖ 首先，本論文就１９８０年代之都市史活力，所形成的建築史論述的緊張關係，並交待傳統 常規式建築史論述之危機，與史畢羅．考斯多夫的回應。 接著，作者分別就都市過程與主體性建構二者，就理論層次討論空間之特殊性，並將都市史 發展接合上政治經濟學空間論戰的成果。 最後的理論對話，進一步扣合上全球經濟形構下的東亞地區空間重構。作者就多重學科間的 理論發問、比較研究的重要性、個案研究的基礎工作、流動空間與都市主體性建構等，提出 都市史研究的知識準備工作方向。
　　　　　Going through the intellectual context of the urban history discussion in the academic circles of architectural history, the paper rethinks how does the so called "Chinese Architectural History" deal with the study of urban history ﹖ How can architectural history theoretically articulate the problematic of urban history ﹖ And in order to face the changing political economic reality, what are the intellectual and practical contributions of the urban history ﹖ First, based on the tension between the vitality of urban history in the 1980's and the architectural discourse, the paper shows the crisis of conventional architectural history and the response from Spiro Kostof. Then, the arthor discusses the specificity of the space theoretically in the two aspects of urban process and subjectivity constitution. The development in the urban history is articulated with the result of the debate on space in political economy. Finally, the theoretical dialogue relates to the Asian Pacific spatial restructuring in the formation of global economy. Given the theoretical problematic in the multiple disciplines, the importance of comparative studies, basic research of case studies, the space of flows and the constitution of urban subjectivity etc., the author proposes the intellectual preparation for research in urban history.
