The capability to deal with job stress is extremely important for bus drivers. However, there existvery few methods or models to assess and enhance this capability. According to related literaturesand interviews with bus drivers and terminal managers, this paper attempts to develop aconceptual framework to analyze the job stress of bus drivers. The framework includes elevenstressors, seven responses, and eight moderators. An appropriate inventory is then developed tomeasure the job stress among bus drivers. It is found that the bus drivers show more demands onoccupational environments than the resources being supported. This serious unbalance has causedtheir job stress. Unfortunately, most of the demands cannot be reduced to release their job stress, thus this paper proposes some incentive measures from the supply side, including governmentagencies, bus companies, terminal managers and bus drivers, to balancing out the gap of demandsand resources supplied.
