在日本統治時期之社會運動團體中，有關台灣地方自治聨盟的研究成果堪稱是較少的，已知在地方自治改革運動這個面向的研究較爲豐碩，以及領導人物與組織運作方面有零星的成果。因此，有關台灣地方自治聨盟實還有很大的研究空間，特別中目前尚未有一個整體性的研究成果問世，其他如組織的運作過程、與韓國實行地方自治的關係、與其他社會運動的關聨、組織的成員分析等。應都有關台灣地自治聨盟足堪進一步研究的課題。
