The main purposes of this study were: (1) to understand the Taiwanese college students’ priority of the good college teachers’ characteristics based on a ranked scale ; (2) to compare the students different viewpoints on good college teachers’ research ability, instruction ability and service ability according to the students various backgrounds; (3) to provide some suggestions for higher education authorities, college teachers, related authorities and further study. Questionnaire method was employed in this study. There were 1528 students from 24 Taiwanese colleges participated in this study. The findings of this study including: (1) The college students placed more importance on teachers’instruction ability than research and community service ability;(2) female college students significantly placed moe importance on teachers’instruction and community service ability than male college students;(3) college students of different year of study presented significant difference in the viewpoints of good college teachers;(4) college students of different self-evaluating ranks of school performance placed signicantly different importance on teachers’research and community service abilities;(5) college students of different major of study placed signicantly different importance on teachers’instruction , research and community service abilities and (6) collge students of different future career plans were significantly different in the viewpoints of good college teachers’ instruction ,research and community service ability.
