論文以15個新移民婦女在移居香港第一年的生活體驗為主題並辨識忍耐和忍讓是她們應對日常生活之困擾的重要策略。而這一策略是社會結構、文化和個人能動性互動之結果，它不能僅僅簡單地表達為國民性，因為這會掩蓋「忍」的複雜性及其在時間上個人的體驗和策略之異變。
This article focuses on the life experiences of 15 Chinese immigrant women in their first year of resettlement in Hong Kong. This longitudinal qualitative study reveals that the participants made efforts to endure hardships and tolerate inter-personal conflicts. This may be regarded as a survival strategy coping with migration difficulties, which were related to interactions with culture, social structure, and agency over time.
