This narrative inquiry aims to explore the experience of a family with an adult who has intellectual disabilities and to identify the coping strategies and the process of adaption. To triangulate the data, two professionals were included in the study. The semi-structured interviews using a protocol and field observation were used for data collection. Based on grounded theory and narrative inquiry methods, the researchers analyzed the interviews within the five major categories which are related to the research questions. (a) the families' caregiving experiences, (b) the stressors on the families' caregiving experiences, (c) stress events associated with employment for the family with the intellectual disabilities, (d) the coping strategies used by the family, and (f) the coping and adaption course of the family in the study. Finally, the study provided suggestions for families with intellectual disabilities, vocational schools and teachers, governments, and also discussed future directions and applications.
