二十一世紀是資訊爆炸與知識經濟時代,終身學習以獲取新知業成個人與國家競爭力的關鍵,但面對無時無刻紛至沓來的訊息,個人須加以判讀與建構,方不至誤用並能吸收成自己的知識。而建構或評估訊息的標準之一就是知識信念,知識信念就像過濾網,對觸接資訊進行保留或排除的篩選。知識信念是個人關於知識本質(the nature of knowledge)或知曉(knowing)本質與如何知曉的過程的概念與看法(Hofer & Pintrich,1997),包括下列六部分:知識的確定性、知識的簡單性、全知的權威、求知歷程的辯護、天生能力與快速學習。研究顯示知識信念的發展受到教育程度的影響,主要影響者為教師、父母與文化,其發展係由質樸(näive)至成熟(sophisticated)、簡單至複雜的連續狀態。成熟的知識信念者較能評估訊息的來源和確認權威,當面對衝突訊息時能監控什麼是自己相信的,重新檢視證據以評估與判斷權威來源,調和或辯證專家與自己經驗間的矛盾。本文主要目的在以文獻探討了解知識信念的內涵及其對學習的影響,在剖析知識信念與網際網路搜尋行為間關係時,發現知識信念對網路訊息搜尋同時有正向與負向的影響,並基於此結果提出具體建議以提昇網際網路搜尋行為的有效性與價值。
Individuals' about the nature of knowledge and the process of knowing, or epistemological beliefs, have been linked to their comprehension, learning, problem-solving, and online information searching. There are six (certain knowledge、simple knowledge、omniscient authority、the justification for knowing、innate ability、and quick learning) of epistemological beliefs. Everyone has epistemological beliefs about the nature of knowledge and when they encounter information in digital environments they make judgment about the information based upon these epistemological beliefs. This research reviewed the literature about the relationship between epistemological beliefs and information-seeking behaviors. We found the epistemological beliefs had positive and negative effects on information-seeking behaviors.
