當代有關臺灣文學的論爭頻出，顯示大家對於討論文學的熱衷和相關文學見解的 迅速更迭。只是參與論爭者未必清楚自己在進行一場什麼樣的論爭, 以及論爭的結果究竟有 什麼意義。從長遠來看，如果說臺灣文學也要面向世界，甚至在世界文壇上爭得一席之地， 那大家討論的策略或方向可能就得略作調整。本文就是基於這個前提而構思的，期望能為臺 灣文學找點出路。論述過程，先針對臺灣文學在目前被討論的情況作一點必要的匯整和詮解 , 然後據以推測臺灣文學將來勢必要在「類型」或「方法」上致力，才可能跟其他文學一較 長短。
