　　　　　加達默強調他的解釋學是“哲學的”，它所關注的不是方法論與方法，而是澄清了解的意義與先決條件。此自白引出對其解釋學的四個看法：（1）它把真理與方法完全對立起來；（2）它提不出區分解釋對錯的有效判準；（3）它不是規範性的，因沒有提供了解的方法；（4）它沒有任何實踐效用，任何想將它付諸實踐的企圖都是一種誤解。本文的主旨在證明這四個看法都錯誤的。
