　　　　　本文以支持台灣民族主義的文學作家與批評家建構「台灣（民族）文學」 概念的過程為例，分析1980年代以來台灣文化民族主義者的文化論述發展，並 探討他們在台灣民族主義政治發展中的角色。本文指出，本省籍文學作家與批 評家的台灣文化民族主義主要是「美麗島事件」之後，政治反對運動人士進行民族主義意識型態動員所催發出來的。他們的台灣民族認同並非早已存在的認 知要素，而是受政治變遷激發的意識，是在台灣過去二十年左右的特殊政治社 會環境中才逐漸浮現。這種過程顯示台灣民族主義運動的發展序列，並不符合 一般所認為的民族主義運動進程的三階段論。黨外政治反對運動人士在80年代初提倡以一個相當於台灣島嶼領土範圍的新國家，取代依照中國民族主義與大 陸疆域所組織的中華民國。支持台灣民族主義的人文知識分子的角色，則在創 造台灣人集體象徵、重新詮釋台灣文學（以及復興福佬台語、改寫台灣歷史） 等，以建構台灣民族認同感，支持政治上的認同主張與行動。
　　　　　This paper examines the construction of the concept of “Taiwanese national literature” by nationalist writers and literary critics, who have played a central role in the development of Taiwanese cultural nationalism since 1980. The paper points out that Taiwanese cultural nationalism emerged as anti-KMT activists mobilized intellectuals following the Kaohsiung Incident of 1979. This historical sequence shows that the Taiwanese nationalist movement does not fit prevailing conceptualizations of the history of nationalist movements that are based primarily on Miroslav Hroch's three-phase division. The paper also argues that the politicized identity of Taiwanese cultural nationalists is not a fixed, essential entity, but an effect of specific sociopolitical changes in post-1980 Taiwan. Taiwanese political dissidents' ideological mobilization has focused on substituting a new state corresponding with the island territory for the ROC framed according to Chinese nationalism and the Mainland domain. The work of articulating a sense of Taiwanese national identity has been left primarily to such pro-independence humanist intellectuals as writers and literary critics. These humanist intellectuals try to authenticate the political assertion of identity by creating collective symbols and reclaiming a particular national tradition of literature.
