本篇文章試圖呈現「少數劇場」(minority theatre) 在二十世紀六○年代以後對全球所形成的變革與影響，證明「少數論述」在劇場中具體而有力的文化實踐。本文特別集中闡述爬梳「後殖民主義」理論中的少數／他者／邊緣觀點，並分析其與少數論述及劇場實踐的緊密關連和交互影響，並嘗試提出七○年代以後全球和台灣「少數劇場」的「對位閱讀」實例，檢視少數劇場的當代發展和貢獻。再以少數劇場中的一支生力軍──「老人劇場」(reminiscence theatre) 為範例，進行台灣在地的「歡喜扮戲團」及英國「歲月流轉中心」(Age Exchange Center) 老人劇場展演的「對位閱讀」，探討老人劇場雖身處主流劇場的邊緣位置，卻在後殖民的文化情境下，對個別社會、在地文化及全球文化提出多向、多點、多元互動的特殊貢獻，並辯證其對「國際劇場交流主義」(theatre interculturalism) 的新啟示，再度驗證「少數劇場」的強力邊際效應 (peripheral efficacy)，藉此凸顯「少數」的精神和特質。
