The purpose of this study is to document the learning process of Asia University’s faculty and students participating in community evaluation. Students comprehended the practical aspects of community organization and community development through helping in the preparation of community evaluation. Theoretical underpinnings are social work education, service learning, and community empowerment. The study finding shows that students saw the real community in terms of strengths and weaknesses, as well as their own capacities and deficiencies. The course design was based on the professional nature of social work education using the concepts and methods of service learning to deepen the mutual partnership of university and community. The course work reached the objective of this course and helped to better community development work. During this process, both parties realized that only through open dialogue and friendly relationships as well as using the strengths of each other, and supporting the inadequate to complement each other, the project can achieve a successful outcome. Therefore, the author agrees that the combination of service learning and social work will be a worthwhile future goal.
