　　　　　本文檢討英語世界近來研究集體記憶的兩種取向：「解剖者」與「拯救者」的方 法，並著重討論它們對公共論述性格的影響與政治社會行動的意涵。解剖者取向強調集體記 憶的社會建構性質，以及權力和利益的涉入。它有利於挑戰宰制的歷史觀，促進認同的多元 化和社會的民主平等，但易導向激進的相對主義而不利於理性溝通。拯救者取向重視歷史延 續性和過去對當代的影響，認為集體記憶不完全受利益和權力左右，並強調自由的公共空間 對各種集體記憶存活的重要。本文最後提出較有利於自由民主生活的對「過去」的看法，認 為必須相信追求歷史真相的可能，而社會的共同歷史記憶須在自由的公共領域以平等對話的 方式協商達成。
