Abstract In the field of policy analysis, policy termination clearly has been a less attended issue, therefore there are little amount of literature which we can study, and that’s why the reason it can not be the popular issue for scholars,. and remain itself a rather obscure part of the policy cycle. Besides, the public sectors within most of the advanced nations are confronted with pressing and growing financial constraints, the problem of how to terminate ineffective or outdated public policies, programs, or organizations is increasingly important. In order to gain a fundamental understanding about policy termination, the author explore the policy termination’s meanings, types, reasons and mehtods .Then the author also analyze the reasons why policy termination are not so easy to achieve in the real political situation. And then Robert Behn’s 12 guidelines for successful termination was introduced. Then, according to Eugene Bardach’s study, there are five conditions which facilitate policy termination was mentioned. And finally, The author generated five conclusions as an ending.
