本研究基於校園道德生活與氣氛日漸重要之際，乃以個案研究方式選擇一所北市國小進行一學期的觀察、訪談與小規模問卷調查，並以正義、關懷與紀律作為學校道德生活的理論基礎。研究結果概分為兩大部分，一是有關學校整體校園生活與氣氛，所顯現特點為：(一)該校雖為該區之近百年老校，但因其近年來校舍大幅改建以及近幾任校長領導風格不同，故其校風也展現不同風貌，但整體而言仍稱純樸；(二)該校之領導決策人員十分強調民主、溝通與關懷的理念，然教師實際的感受乃稱尚可，又因學校甚大，教師互動仍有待強化；(三)該校設有師生權益相關機制，如教師會與家長會等，前者似乎未獲普遍參與，後者則發揮諸多功能；(四)學生對於學校的整體氣氛多傾向於正面的描述，諸如學校像個花園、天堂等；(五)該校與社區互動良好，除重視鄉土教學外，更進一步與社區組織合作，讓師生參與社區之營造；(六)甲國小道德教育的重點在於生活教育，較為強調「紀律」與「關懷」層面。其次，在班級道德生活與氣氛方面，由低、中、高年級不同年段班級之剖析可得下述特點：(一)「紀律」取向的道德生活，包括秩序、常規與禮儀等，乃為國小道德教育的基礎與重要內涵；(二)隨著年齡的增長，「關懷」取向的道德生活也漸融入，強調人際間的同理與尊重；(三)面對高年級學生的自主性增強之際，民主開放的氣氛益顯重要，亦即「正義」取向的道德生活也漸需增強。本研究最後乃針對研究對象(即甲國小)做一概述並提出若干建議，另則針對研究歷程中研究對象之選擇、研究問題之聚焦、研究倫理之考量以及研究結果之處理等做一反省與檢討。
