This project explores how visual experiences and ways of looking were transformed into literary texts and how the experiences were switched to resources of modern poetics. "The Ladder" and "Georgia O'Keeffe" are Ling Yu's two poems that were inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's artworks and her life stories. Based on these poems, I analyze how Ling Yu creates meanings beyond the images in O'Keeffe's paintings trough visual perception and the influence of ways of looking. Besides, I look at two aspects of Ling Yu's poetry from body study to offer a new way of poetic interpretation. One is focusing on the images of color and food; the other is light and moving body in her poetry. The two features illuminate the fluid experiences of senses
