University general educations aims to provide students with a wider prospect so that students will have knowledge in other fields and be able to communicate with experts in other subjects. In addition to introduction and conclusion, this paper will discuss following aspects:(一)the definition of general education (二)the purpose of general education (三)the general situations for applying general education in America (四)the discussion of general situations for applying general education in our university. Based on the discussions above, there are some suggestions for general education in our country afterwards:(一)not to exclude professionalism skills (二)to streng then science education (三)to organize curriculum properly (四)to enhance the guality of teachers (五)to improve instructional methods (六)to coordinate other measures.
