The main purpose of this article is to explore how should the core researcher play his role in an action research? An educational action research and the reflection on it are adopted to reach the purpose. First of all, the article thinks that the core researcher had better be a guide if participants lacking in knowledge concerned with action research. Next, it shows three dimensions of guidance as follows: 1. Trying to help those taking part in action research to understand some concepts concerned with action research. 2. Trying to facilitate those participants to co-construct some new viewpoints about action research. 3. Trying to strengthen and improve the operation of action research. Thirdly, the article tries to reflect the author’s ways of guidance before. Attitudes and methods adopted by the author himself are the focus of reflection. Finally, the article suggests that the core researcher of an action research may guide the other participants according to the “the dimensions of guidance” and “the ways of guidance” proposed by this article.
