The study aims at Chinese literature textbook of Junior high School. Ever since the textbook edition right was opened to the public, more and more works created by local Taiwanese writers have been compiled into the textbook, yet the proportion still seems to be relatively low. In the “Nine-Year Coherent Curriculum Guidelines” published by the Ministry of Education in 2003, the title “Local Literature” has been officially changed into “Taiwanese Literature”. As textbooks are to be re-edited in 2004; we seek to discuss the compilation of Taiwanese Literature in the edition “edited by” and the edition only “revised by” the Ministry of Education. The selection orientation of these literature works may vary in these two editions, as editions have dissimilar aspects of concern and interpretation. Consequently, the key motivation of the researcher should be to reflect the reality of people’s life in Taiwan, to display the historical sequence of this land, and also-through the writings of different writers-to present the phenomenon of multiculturalism in Taiwan; thus hopefully to make considerable contribution to Taiwanese Literature education, and also to the construct ion of Taiwanese social culture and history.
