Marriage is one of the greatest events in life. Every ethnic group has their own wedding processes and principles. Rukai's traditional wedding process is faded because of cultural assimilation influenced by Han people. It is regrettable for Rukai's culture to lose the traditional wedding procedure.Troditional Rukai was a feudalism society. The wedding process was influenced by their feudal class. There were three stages in wedding procedure proceeded no matter which class was going to hold a nuptials. From this paper we know that the first stage of wedding procedure is to confirm the social class of both sides and to negotiate the gifts presented from groom family to bride family before betrothal party；the second stage of wedding procedure is to confirm how to hold an appropriate nuptials with their social class and to discuss the amount of gifts both sides compromised；the wedding ceremony will be held not long after engagement. The wedding procedure elevates the superiority of family among the Rukai traditional society in my field investigation. Therefore, there must have a cautious negotiation between both sides. Although traditional society was feudal, the Wudai of Rukai's ballads could be sung by everyone. There were specific songs in the three stages of wedding procedure reflecting the connections between the three stages of wedding procedure and the ballads. The ballads certainly acted as one of a important role in the wedding procedure of Wudai of Rukai.Even though the Wudai of Rukai's traditional wedding procedure had vanished, we could still learn the traditional wedding process of Wudai of Rukai and understand the implicit meaning under the culture of traditional nuptials from this article.
