酒在過去一直被視為男性化的象徵，隨著時間的推衍，女性的飲酒行為也逐漸增加，並且從過去的負面意義，轉變成展現自我的正面符號。飲酒的理由根據學者研究，一為增進正向情緒，二為減緩負面情緒，警察工作本身具有高度危險性及高壓力，又在公務體系中屬於人際關係互動較多的單位，通常透過飲酒來達到紓壓及增進彼此（無論內部及外部）情誼的目的。過去關於警察與飲酒行為的研究，幾乎是以男警為研究對象，隨著女性犯罪率與被害者的增加，以及女權運動的推波助瀾，警察工作也越來越多女性參與，當女性進入以男性為主的公領域時，往往必須主動或被迫採取男性行為模式才能獲得能力的認可，女警可能因此而認同，或者為了職場和諧或追求更好的發展而飲酒。此外，除了一般警察工作的壓力外，女性從警本身更有來自於社會文化認同與家庭等等的壓力，導致女警飲酒的負向情緒可能有更多面向的原因。然而，如前所述，飲酒也可以增進正向情緒，女警飲酒本身亦可能是受到傳統禁忌的式微，為了展現自我而形成的一種生活習慣。因此，本研究主要針對在女權運動發展下，女警飲酒行為因素之探討。

Wine had been taken as a symbol of masculinity in the past. As time goes by, the female polices' public drinking behavior has gradually become more acceptable than in the past. Previous studies indicate two main reasons to why police officers consume alcohol. The first reason is to trigger positive emotions and the second reason is to release negative emotions. Police officers are exposed to and suffer from a lot of pressure in the highly dangerous situations they face every day. Furthermore, police officers have to deal with interpersonal relationship more than other employees who work for the government. Therefore, police officers usually create positive interaction with others and relieve stress through drinking. Previous researches on the police officers' drinking behavior usually focus on male police officers. However, the rate of female crime has been rising gradually and the feminist movements have also been growing rapidly. There are increasingly more women who devote themselves to the police force. When women work in a public workplace that is dominated by men, they are usually required to perform stereotypically masculine actions to prove their capability. Thus, female police officers may drink to facilitate harmony in the workplace or to better secure their career growth. Female police officers not only feel the great pressure from daily work, but also the pressure from socio-cultural identity and their family. The sources of pressure are all possible causes to the female police officers' drinking behavior. In addition, drinking itself is also a good way to enhance positive emotions and for this reason it may become a daily habit. The traditional perspective of female police officers' public drinking has gradually changed due to social movements. As a result, the purpose of this study is to investigate how the drinking behavior of female police officers is affected by the feminist movements.
