The main purposes of this study were to explore the correlations among teaching anxiety, work and family conflict, career expectancy, and job satisfaction for junior high school teachers, and constructed the model of “work-family conflict” and “family-work conflict” and the model of teaching anxiety, “work-family conflict”, “family-work conflict”, career expectancy, and job satisfaction to confirm the reliability of the two models. The subjects were administered according to the Personal Data, the Teaching Anxiety Scale, the Work and Family Conflict Scales (Work-family conflict; Family-work conflict), the Career Expectancy Scale, and the Job Satisfaction Scale. Three hundred and sixty-two junior high school teachers in Changhua were selected for inclusion in this investigation.
The main findings of this study were as follows. 1. The teaching anxiety scale, the work and family conflict (“work-family conflict”, “family-work conflict”) scales, the career expectancy scale, and the job satisfaction scale got well confirmed, and the factor structures of the scales matched with the data we collected; 2. The means of female teachers were significantly higher than the means of male teachers in teaching anxiety and “work-family conflict”; the means of regular teachers were significantly higher than the means of Leader/Director in teaching anxiety; the means of teachers who worked above 26 years were significantly higher than the means of teachers who worked for 1-5 years in “family-work conflict”; the means of teachers with different number of children did not have significant differences in “work-family conflict”, “family-work conflict”, and job satisfaction. 3. The “work-family conflict” and “family-work conflict” model and the teaching anxiety, work-family conflict, family-work conflict, career expectancy, and job satisfaction model were constructed well, and they could be explained by the empirical data and get supported. According to the findings of the study, some suggestions were made.
