This paper discusses the ideas of human body upon the Taiwanese vernacular dwellings and intends to explore the cultural deep meanings within those buildings. Many traditional artisans analogized the images of human body to the dwellings extensively, such as layout, form shaping, terminology, and construction taboos. The analogy between a building's form and human body not only provides the anthropomorphized characteristics of building be auspicious or not. Furthermore, the naming system of spaces based on the image of human body lets people feel familiar and make linkage between their feelings and livings. It can become a reality to the liver and also represent the thought of self-centralization form the relationship between self (liver) and world (dwelling) form the ideas of body upon the Taiwanese vernacular dwellings.
