In the Japanese ruled period, in order to introduce and implement the concept of Japanese youth group to Taiwanese young people, Taiwan Government–General established “Taiwan syou nen dan” and ”Taiwan sei nen dan” which then merged into “Taiwan sei syou nen dan” in 1941. This group was a part of social educational system and served as an extension of the school education and the fundamental guidelines of the Empire, in which “singing” was one of the trainings. From schools to the social education,Taiwan Government–General compiled appropriate materials for different levels. There were songs also composed or collected for the current political situation. This article discussed“Taiwan sei syou nen dan”in a chronologically order and the content and concept of songs used that conveyed. The singing education was in a transition process from “enlightenment(discipline)”to“mobilization(propaganda)”, and the purpose of this article is to present another possibility of Taiwan Government-General mobilized Taiwanese during the period of the Japanese Rule.
