在新加坡作家謝裕民的文學世界當中，「離散」主題一以貫之，不斷邁向複雜多元的面向，既有歷史視野，亦不乏理論深度。本文取材謝裕民小說集《最悶族》與《一般是非》，以及散文與小說合集《重構南洋圖像》的代表篇什，探討他如何發揮批評性想像，自由遊走於現代都市與歷史世界，在孜孜不倦的離散書寫當中，針對「家國尋根」和「文化認同」的議題，展開繁複的推衍與辯難。本文強調，謝裕民的思考固然與西方文化理論家遙相呼應，但亦有其個人的發明和創見在內。在論文結尾，作者通過文本邊緣的閱讀，揭示一種斷裂、變異、後設的「敘事學」，認為謝氏以自我反思的策略和自我解構的姿態，質疑和顛覆了文本內部建構起來的意義系統，把有關離散和文化認同的思考推向極致。
Chia Joo Ming, a leading Chinese Singaporean writer, depicts diaspora as a common cultural phenomenon in human society. This article explores how Chia represents diaspora in his (non-) fictional writings of the past several decades, mainly focusing on his critical presentation of homeland-seeking and cultural identity. In addition, the article also highlights Chia’s personal views on the issues of diaspora and cultural identity, as well as how such views conform to those expressed by Western thinkers such as Stuart Hall and James Clifford. In the conclusion, the author asserts that in the brilliant meta-fictional work, Ambon Holiday安汶假期, Chia unexpectedly pushes his position on identity politics to the deconstructionist extreme.
