Thoughts of Fuming Jia crossed the boundaries of philosophy, psychology, and pedagogy that attributed to her fame in the community of education as a revered philosopher and educator with profound knowledge. Taking educational hermeneutics as the research method, this essay summarizes Jia's life and delves into the origin of her thoughts which had been influenced by Confucius, Plato, Aristotle, and Pei-Lin Tien, furthering to explore Jia's core thought and the derived images of teachers based on humanity. This paper investigates three aspects of core thought: 1. Basic concepts of ”human being;” 2. The concepts of personality, i.e. following the spirit of ”Kindness” and ”Sincerity” as well as encouraging people to learn how to become a gentleman; 3. The expectation of ideal personality lies in understanding the meaning of life and creating the immortality of human's life. The images of ideal teachers are stated in the following lines: (1) Learning how to become a teacher; (2) Cultivation of teacher's sense of responsibility; (3) Manifestation of educational love (spiritual love); (4) Become students' paragon; (5) Keep learning; and (6) The mission of education consists in completing self and others. Finally, in terms of the inspiration to the current Taiwan's education states from analyzing the picture of ideal teacher, this essay expounds on the goal of teaching education, curriculum, and teaching, in the hope of inspiring the introspection of educators through Jia's thoughts in the act of way of teacher being on the decline and people facing a society where right and wrong and values are confounded. Despite the fact that teachers have tough jobs, still, there will no change in some basic core values, one driving force that supports our fulfillment of educational mission.
