The purpose of this research is to investigate parents' educational choices for the elementary school students with disabilities in Taipei city. What are the factors that influence parents' educational choices? And what is the discrepancy of these between parents with different background variables (school character, relationship with children, occupations, education degree, socioeconomic status, administrative division, and children's categories and levels of severity of disabilities). To reach the goal of this investigation, literature discussion and questionnaire survey are employed in this research. The survey instrument, "Questionnaire of parents' choices in education of elementary school students with disabilities in Taipei city." is used to investigate 292 randomly selected parents. The finding of the study is summarized as follows: 1. When parents make their educational choices, there are significant differences between parents with different school characters, occupations, education degrees, socioeconomic status, administrative division, children's categories and levels of severity of disabilities. 2. the qualification of teachers is the most important factor when parents make their choice in education of the elementary school students with disabilities in Taipei city. 3. In the content of education, the most important factor is the qualification of teachers, and that in school pattern is administration. When parents with disabled children make their educational choices, they emphasize the content of education more than the school pattern. 4. When parents with disabled children make their educational choices for children in Taipei city, the difficulties that they face are the uncertainty before their children enroll, whether or not the choices they make are adequate to children, the traffic and the school district problems, and the those relevant to with family.
