本文首先闡述「病理學還原」(Pathological reduction)的理念與意涵，並說明其如何作為推進口述影像研究的進路；其次則介紹口述影像研究的內涵，以及其所涉及之符號、再現、敘事等傳播相關問題．再者，本文也試圖說明在認知的理論架構下，口述影像研究如何延伸與引發了對「心像」問題的探索，並進一步提出了口述影像研究未來可開啟之有關「創造力」的主題，同時期待以作為視障者與明眼人合組創意團隊的基礎。本文最後再度強調「病理學還原」的理念與精神，及其對傳播領域的反思。

This paper firstly examines the conception and implications of Pathological Reduction and proceeds to explain how it guides the study of Audio Description and furthermore serves as a general outlook for communication studies. Secondly, this paper intends to introduce the study of Audio Description and its related issues including symbols, representation and narration. Moreover, this paper attempts to discuss how “mental image” based on the theoretical structure of cognition, and furthermore, to propose “creativity” as a new research agenda in the field of audio description. Finally, this paper emphasizes that the concept of Pathological Reduction sheds new light on the field of communication studies.
