本研究以297位高中(職)一年級與298位國小五年組男女學生為樣本，分析標本對「母親職分調查問卷」上六個範疇的母親職分重要程度的看法，結果發現：(1)子女心目中的六項母親職分，其重要程度不同；(2)子女心目中母親六項職分之重要程度，受母親是否任職、子女性別的顯著影響；(3)子女心目中六項母親職分的重要程度，不受子女年齡的影響。根據上述研究發現，本研究提供五項建議：(1)母親善盡母職應分先後急緩；(2)工作母親應多親近瞭解子女；(3)非工作母親應多費心協和家庭關係；(4)母親應予男女子女樹立適切的母職風範；(5)母親不應與子女漸長而怠忽職責。

297 senior high school students and 298 elementary school students were investigated on their perception of six mother's roles on the Mother's Role Questionnaire", The results show that: (1) children's perceptions of the six important mother's roles were different; (2)variables such as mother employed or not, and sex of the child had significant influence on children's perception of mother's roles; (3) age variable was found not significant on children's perception of mother's roles. The findings of this study suggest that: (1) to be succesful in mother's roles should decide which thing is more important than the other and do it first; (2) the employed mothers should spend more time to be with their children so as to understand them better; (3) mothers, not employed, should pay more attention on how to cultivate harmonious family relationship; (4) mothers should establish adequate model of mother's roles for their boys and girls; (5) no negliance of motherhood would be allowed even their children were grown up.
