本文討論近代學者所建構的商代政治地理空間模型，這些模型包括：(1)傳統模型－方格中的方格、(2)方國聯盟與城邦模型、(3)邑制國家與洞洞乳酪模型、(4)空間考古理論模型、(5)綜合論述模型。這些不同的模型，有其各自出現與發展的學術脈絡及其問題。從近年出現的晚商考古材料看來，這些模型的內涵與考古出土的現象有或多或少的出入，近年出土考古材料之豐富，實足以讓我們使用複雜的綜合論述模型來討論，但是過去的研究或者過於簡略、材料過時，或僅能利用西文二手材料，因此，這方面的研究，未來仍有很大的開展空間。
This article discusses the models of Shang dynasty political space developed by modern scholars. These models include: (1) the traditional model-a box within a box; (2) the union of regional states and city states model; (3) the settlement system state and gruyère model; (4) the spatial archaeology model; and (5) the synthesis model. These models have all appeared and developed from their own individual academic contexts and are all problematic in their own way. Based on late Shang dynasty archaeological materials excavated in recent years, it has become readily apparent that the connotations of the models listed above differ (to a greater or lesser extent) from the phenomena discovered through archaeological excavation. The large amount of recently excavated archaeological materials can allow us to use a complex synthesis model to discuss the Shang, but, because research conducted in the past has been overly simplistic, utilized out-of-date materials, or used only second-hand Western language materials, there is still great room for development in this area of research.
