The profession of teachers shall meet the demand from social change and the requirement of 12-year basic education. It is therefore critical for supporting teachers to enhance their profession. The study aims to explore the future of teacher professional development. Firstly, it introduced the concept of teacher professional development. Secondly, it discussed the learning and teaching oriented on “educational technology” and “key competency” under the context of digital age and 12-year basic education. Finally, it probed into the aspects of “curriculum design and instruction”, “classroom management and guidance”, and “profession enhancement and responsibility” to echo the core concepts of “educational technology” and “key competency” and to propose suggestions for the future of teacher professional development.
