In modern corporations, confidants play very important organizational roles. Thisstudy uses a convenient sampling technique to investigate confidant relationship. Fifty-eightpairs of superior-confidant dyads of effective samples were obtained. Our results show that,compared to their confidants counterpart, superiors are more likely to perceive closeness andtrusting relationship between them and their confidants. Also, from superiors' viewpoint,closeness is not highly related to trusting relationship, while in confidants' viewpoint, theyare related to each other. In addition, from superiors' perceptions, degree of closeness betweensuperior and confidant is not related to confidants' loyalty. However, from confidants'perceptions, degree of closeness is related to their loyalty. Trusting relationship is found onlypartially related to confidants' loyalty. Finally, relationships between superior and confidantare better described in terms of affective terms than in transactional terms.
