Abstract
The construction of strength-centered approach of supervision model for novice counseller
The purpose of the study was to construct a strength-centered approach of supervision model for novice counseller and to validate its effects. For which purpose, two studies are conducted. Study one aimed to construct a supervision model, and study two purposed to validate the model. Study one adopted important event and task analysis approach, in which 5 participants received 8 supervision sessions. Participants of this study included 5 novice counseller, aged between 28 to 31 years old. Materials obtained from the IPR were analyzed and compared by the qualitative method. Based on the analyses, the model containing four theme categories and ten themes were constructed. The strength-centered supervision protocol for novice counseller was then proposed.
In study two, participants of this study included 5 novice counseller, aged between 27 to 30 years old. Participants received the strength-centered supervision model constructed in this research.Qualitative research method was applied to investigate the subjective experiences of the 5 participants to understand the supervision processes and content of supervisory effects of this model. Participants were interviewed after receiving supervision, and materials obtained from the interviews were analyzed. The results indicated five aspects that influence supervision processes. According to the outcomes, a model of change mechanism on supervision processes were then provided. Finally, findings in this research were discussed and implications and recommendations for practice and future study were also provided.
