This paper analyzes the principles of the Education Basic Law and Compulsory Education Law in Taiwan. According to the analysis, the author predicts the four new directions of school organizational change in Taiwan, which are school-based management, teacher empowerment, parental voice and choice, and school-based curriculum and instruction. In order to cope with the changing environments, school administrators may adopt the following strategies: (1) making organizational structure flexible, (2) developing school visions, (3) establishing school speciality, (4) reshaping school culture, (5) exercising transformational and facilitative leadership, (6) involving school members in decision-making, (7) enhancing organizational learning, (8) utilizing computer technology, (9) developing parental human resources, (10) fulfilling school accountability.
