內容分析，文本分析與論述分析這的研究方法近年來越來越受到社會科學研究的重視，然而現今臺灣的社會研究，對於這方面的討論與實際運用，明顯不足；但本文也並不打算全面地解說在社會研究中進行內容分析、文本分析與論述分析的方法與步驟，筆者寫作本文的用意，其實是欲強調現今的社會研究，在今日多元方法交叉檢證的用意，其實是於欲強調現今的社會研究，在今日多元方法交叉檢證(triangulation)的研究策略已漸受重視之際，除了主流的社會調查方五報以及質化取向的訪談或民族誌田野工作之外，各種不同的研究方法與技術，其實都應納入基礎訓練之中，以便使研究者能善用研究工具與不同的方法取徑，並對蒐集得來的資料有更進一步的掌握與分析，以臻研究之精進。 內容分析、文本分析首論述分析都是針對社會製成品作解析的研究取向，但是其功能與解析觀點不盡相同，在研究實務上的運用上也有各自的長處與限制。由於內容分析法較屬於實證主義傾向，強調科學客觀的量化分析，因此本文先就幾個具體的研究實例談起，討論內容分析法雖可提供系統化的資料作為討論基礎，但研究者卻往往容易著重在文本的靜態面向而忽略要回到資料本身的現象脈絡去關照，另外，文本要素之間的結構關聯性與互動意涵也常被忽略。因此，若欲做到「爬出文本外或是掌握其「未書寫出來的部分」，那麼強調意義詮釋與解析的文本分析和論述分析方法則是較為有利的工具。 文本分析通常只針對一種社會製成品，如新聞報導、文學作品、電影或海報圖片，作解析和意義詳釋，但晚近學者也很強調社會研究之中的「互為正文的分析」或「語境分析」。至於論述分析，則包含更為廣闊，不只是單純僅檢視文本本身，而是將建構文本所使用的論述及其相關社會場址(institutional sites)和歷史文化因素都納入分析之中，所以論述分析絕對不是一種任意的拆解，其物質性的基礎與實質效應具有重要的地位而不容易視。 不管是採用內容分析或文本及論述分析也好，只要是針對文件資料或任何其他社會製成品所作的分析，都應該配合呈現實例，並具體而詳盡地描述出分的素材以為佐證，增加其研究的說服力。 本文最後在結語部分則回歸探討方法論的相關議題。
This article explores three research approaches: content analysis, textual analysis and discourse analysis,. The author does not intend to introduce the operational procedures of these three research approaches. By contrast, the author compares as well as reviews each approach in order to reconsider the methodological issues in social researches. Each approach has its advantages and limitations. However, the author put more emphasis on discourse analysis in this paper. That is because the relevant issues regarding discourse analysis are seldom explicated in the exited literature.
